FLAT ROOFS
Flat Roofing is something best left to Roofing Contractors who have the experience, training and certifications for installing these systems as most Roofing Contractors install Asphalt Shingles only. At McKay's we are manufacture certified and have experience in most accepted Flat Roofing Systems in the market today. We take it upon ourselves to have refresher training every winter at our Shop to make sure we are up to date with the proper installation methods.

At McKay's we install EPDM -- Rubber Membrane Roofs, TPO -- White Environmentally Reflective Roofs, Modified Bitumen Roofs- or Torch On Roofs, Cold Applied Modified bitumen Roofs, and PVC Roofs. We decided as a company due to the health and safety of our employees and environmental reasons, that there is no need for installing 4ply Built up Roofs that could endanger our customers and or properties in this day in age as there are so many better options available today.
There is no one Flat roof system that is best for all applications. Keep in mind that even if you are using the best materials, your Flat roof system still can be installed improperly and you could end up with a leaky roof. Good workmanship and proper attention to detail (e.g., flashing and drainage issues) are just as important as material selection. Also, maintenance plays an important role in roof system integrity and service life.
Recover
If after inspection your existing roof has minimal wet or no insulation on top of your roof in many cases we can save you a great deal of money by leaving your existing roof in place and recovering it with a new membrane. The advantage of this is you save on the cost of disposal and labour to remove the existing roof as well as increasing your R-value with insulation if required. As well, we can still provide you with a workmanship warranty and a manufactures warranty.
Replace
If after inspection we find extensive wet insulation and the possibility of roof deck issues we would recommend replacing the roof as you do not want to cover up wet insulation with no R-value and cover up a potentially rusted or damaged deck which will cost you a great deal more in the long run.
